~ Don't spend your life wishing you had made a difference, spend it knowing that you did.
Do you want to help animals in need, but don't know where to start? Are you under the impression you can only be helpful if you adopt a dog, have a lot of money, or a lot of time? Read below and let us help change your mind and guide you in the right direction. Volunteering can be a big commitment, or a small gesture, there is plenty of room (and need) for everybody.

Adopt

Adopting a dog is a huge commitment and choosing the right dog for you/your family should be taken into careful consideration. It is not advised to adopt a dog because of "looks" or even breed unless you have done your research. When adopting you should be searching for the breed and individual dog that best suits your situation and lifestyle. Finding a dog that fits your family will lead to a happy adoption and hopefully a forever home for a homeless pet. Adoption also opens up room in rescues and shelters to save another dog. Check out our Adoptable Dogs page.

Foster

Fostering also opens up a spot for rescues and shelters to save another life. Fostering is a way to love a dog with out the full commitment of owning a dog. Foster for a few weeks, a few months, or until the dog is adopted. Fostering let's us know how dogs react in a home environment, and allows the dog to receive more undivided one on one attention. Many rescue dogs have never been inside a home, or experienced being a valued member of a family. Fostering helps teach them manners and that there are kind humans eager to love them. Fostering is a HUGE asset to the rescue community and helps saves hundreds of lives. Did we mention that it costs you nothing? We cover the vet bills, food, and any other necessary items the dog may need. If you are interested in fostering for us please fill out our Foster Application.

Volunteer

In rescues and shelters there is always a need for volunteers.
Volunteers can help in many ways such as:
* Fundraising * dog walking * kennel cleaning
 * bathing and grooming * driving dogs to vet appointments
 * planning adoption events * managing websites
 * updating adoptable lists\crossposting * collecting items from donors.
The list goes on and on. Every little bit helps, and volunteers are an amazing asset to rescues and shelters. If you would like to volunteer with us please feel free to fill out a Volunteer Application.

Sponsor

Sponsors are amazingly generous people who, when able, sponsor dogs that often times are on death row or in emergency situations. Those monetary donations give rescues and shelters the extra needed funds to help the dog in question. Often times rescues have a hard time securing funds, especially in rural areas where the help is minimal but the need is great. Sponsorships (also sometimes known as pledges) help cover the costs of transport, medical needs, and care of the animal as well as boarding or training if/when needed. You may also choose to simply sponsor the cost of a one time spay\neuter, micro chipping, etc.
Sponsorships/pledges do not have to be a great amount.
Every penny helps.

Donate

Donors are similar to sponsors but oftentimes donate supplies, resources and money on a regular or one time basis. Donors donate food, toys, treats, collars, leashes, crates, gas cards for transport and other needed supplies, as well as monetary donations for vetting, boarding or whatever else the dogs may need. Donated items can be new or used. Donations are always needed. If you would like to donate, please Contact Us for a current list of our needed items.

Transport

Transporters are a HUGE help to the rescue community and often times are responsible for getting dogs from one side of the country to the other. Transporters usually work together in teams, each doing "legs" of the trip with scheduled meeting places and times to get dog(s) from point A to point B. Many transporters often, but not always, use their own vehicles and their own money to transport those in need. Without transporters the rescue world would be at a loss. If you think you would like to transport but are not sure where to start, please fill out our Volunteer Application and be sure to mention that you'd be interested in transporting.

Share

Social Media has become a particularly large driving force within the animal welfare community. Thousands of dogs are saved annually by sharing their stories on sites like Facebook, Twitter, Rescue Me and others. Do you have a Facebook account? E-mail? A few minutes to spare? Sharing is Caring, and it is easy and saves lives. Whenever you see a dog or animal in need of a home or rescue, click share. This helps spread the need quickly and increases the chances of that animal finding the help they oftentimes desperately need. Sharing is quick and simple and you can do it in your PJ's! How could you say no to that?
